School instead of Street

Investing in the education of children and youth with socio-economical difficulties, we are aiming to develop the capacities and abilities necessary to have them integrated socially and professionally into the community. If these children and youngsters would not receive a consistent support as beneficiaries of our projects, they would be exposed to negligence, abuses, exploitation, juvenile delinquency, begging, social marginalization and exclusion.

"School is cool 1"

The goal of the program is to sustain the school children coping with difficult life issues and with theRobi_si_Dani risk of school abandon, before they would lose their trust in school and slip on the path of an unorganized and libertine life, with dramatic consequences for their future. The project aims at the prevention of school abandon, as also at the prevention of family neglect and abandon, the rise of educational level, the prevention of crisis situations in family and their consequences upon children. The development of children's and their family members' communication and relationship abilities constitute another important objective of this project, which contributes to the improvement of underprivileged children and families quality of life.

The children participating to this program, come from low-income families, confronting with great socio-economical difficulties, which cannot ensure them the necessary support for a good development and a normal school attendance. Therefore, at the “Florian House” Day Center, they receive the necessary school supplies, a permanent guiding for homework and exams preparation and they also benefit of psychological counseling. Beside these, they are involved in a variety of educational, cultural, sportive and artistic activities, trips and camps, activities of volunteering, practical abilities development, socialization and leisure (interactive games, competitions, visits to museums, spectacles, group discussions, etc.)

"School is cool 2"

Invatare_SCHOOL_IS_COOL_2The program targets the school reintegration and the socio-moral education of children and teenagers who dropped out from school since two or more years, a period in which, without a real family support, they came to know “the benefits” of a dangerous liberty.

As an alternative to the life too much spent on the street, the “Florian House” Day Center offers to the children and youngsters reintegrated in school, a rigorous and attractive program, in a secure socio-educative environment, with the aim of graduating school and preparing for an independent life.

The purpose of our entire activity being the durable social integration of the underprivileged children and youngsters, our interventions do not end with school graduation and do not  limit to the psycho-pedagogical field. The young beneficiaries of our social center are involved in volunteering activities, which induce them a positive attitude towards working and community. Once finishing school, they benefit of professional orientation and of our support in order to enroll to qualification courses (sponsored by the Foundation) and get proper jobs.

"School is on your side"

DSC08501modThe JOYO Foundation unfolds the project “School is on your side”  in partnership with Bucharest General Direction of Social Assistance (DGASMB) and the School Inspectorate of Bucharest.

The project “School is on your side” contributes to the prevention of school drop-out among the pupils from the Bucharest’s general schools, by involving the civil society and local authorities in approaching the socio-educative issues linked to the school abandon, by raising the awareness of the normality and necessity of being a pupil at the school age, as also by raising the contribution of the teachers and school counselors to the prevention of school drop-out. The project particularly capitalizes the six years experience of the JOYO Foundation in unfolding school drop-out prevention and school reintegration programs.

IMG_0324modIn the frame of the project, we unroll workshops dedicated to the pupils in risk of school drop-out, in which the project’s team discuss with the children from schools and their teachers on the subjects of school drop-out’s causes, consequences and prevention modalities and  present the personal experiences of the children and youth who were reintegrated in school by the JOYO Foundation.

The representatives of the DGASMB and JOYO Foundation have periodic work meetings with the teachers and school counselors from the schools involved in the project. Part of the children in risk of school abandon will also participate in an educative summer camp, organized by the JOYO Foundation.

"The Compass"

IMG_0403This projects addresses the single parents with socio-economical issues, needing support in order to cope with all the challenges they are confronting with and improve their parental abilities. They benefit of social and psychological counseling, individually and inside a group of support, whose meetings take place at the  Florian House and participate in various socialization activities (creation ateliers, theater and movie watching, group games etc.). In case of necessity, the parents who didn’t graduate school are enrolled to low-frequency courses or benefit of professional guiding and appropriate qualification courses paid by the Foundation; they are, also, counseled and materially aided in order to overcome the crisis situations.
